String Theory is a collective composed of three Montrealers with a strong passion for art, design and textiles. The trio counts Lysanne Latulippe, designer for label Majolie, Meghan Price, artist and Montréal Centre for Contemporary Textiles (MCCT) alum, and Étienne Proulx, artist, management expert and teacher at the MCCT. Each one brings a different yet complimentary expertise to every project they work on.
String Theory focuses on the fundamentals of every garment: raw materials. Their thing is to experiment with numerous different techniques while applying their know-how to the production of scarves, shawls and throws in unique patterns. Created entirely in Montréal, they work mainly with fibres like Merino wool, cotton, alpaca and bamboo. String Theory really sets itself apart with their inspiring textile creations and incessant experimentation with patterns.
This creative ingenuity is largely responsible for their latest success: they were chosen between 200 candidates to be the first ever winners of the Carol Sedestrom Ross Maker-to-Market Scholarship from the New York International Gift Fair (NYIGF). This bursary grants them a booth during the fair’s next edition in August, as well as marketing support before and after the exhibition.
Montréal ingenuity really holds no bounds and extends far beyond the city’s limits!
