CLUC is one of those designers who has a very specific aesthetic and who never really strays from it. The finalist from popular french TV show La Collection (Québec’s answer to Project Runway) proved this to be very true during his fall-winter 2011/2012 show at Marché Bonsecours. It was a full house that night and the dark collection, themed “Le dernier cri” (the last cry), was received with roaring cheers.
CLUC showed what he does best: garments appearing to be straight out of a sci-fi flick. The structured cuts and liberal use of vinyl gave the whole thing a punkish flair, which was confirmed with the shoes – every model, male and female, wore a pair of Doc Martens, the quintessential footwear of the rebellious attitude. The CLUC soldiers had been to hell and back and now feared nothing.
All in all, the designer demonstrated his skilful material handling while giving his fans a cohesive showing. Colorful overstitching mixed with a dedication to zippers gave a little oomph to his monochromatic dark futuristic ensembles. His rebellious attitude didn’t end there: CUC also defied conventions by casting a plus size model. The soundtrack had us uncomfortably seized, but it only added to the showcased vision. Every item represented a piece of the CLUC Couture puzzle – once put together, the result was frame-worthy.

Popping up all over social media sites over the last few days, the hashtags #Sept7 and #Sept07 had begun to spur intrigue, so much so that Wednesday morning, Montréal's fashion community congregated around the Square Victoria statue, to witness and be part of a flash mob organized by CLUC Couture.
For the impromptu event, members of the fashion world, including bloggers, stylists, reporters and photographers, got to play model for the day. Rolling up in grey Mercedes, the models hit the matching pavement for a spontaneous showcase of CLUC's Spring-Summer 2012 collection. The new collection's asymmetric lines and heavy use of red and grey lend it an ultra-urban, highly stylized feel.
In case you missed it, you can check out a clip of the exciting happening that had everyone's curiosity piqued here.
